Om Magno
Hello! My name is Magno, and I'm a Brazilian flautist and flute teacher currently based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), one of Brazil's leading universities, and have over 20 years of experience teaching flute to students of all ages and levels.
Throughout my career, I have taught complete beginners, hobby musicians and advanced students preparing for music school or university. Alongside teaching, I have performed with a youth symphony orchestra, chamber ensembles, wedding groups and other musical formations, giving me extensive experience both as a teacher and as a performer.
Teaching has always been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. I genuinely enjoy helping people discover music, overcome challenges and develop confidence in their own abilities. Seeing a student progress—from playing their very first notes to performing music they once thought was beyond their reach—is what motivates me to teach.
I believe that learning an instrument should be both challenging and enjoyable. My goal is to create a positive and supportive learning environment where every student feels motivated, makes steady progress and enjoys the process of becoming a better musician.

Every student has different goals, and I believe flute lessons should reflect that.
Whether you're picking up the flute for the first time, returning after a break, or preparing for music school or university auditions, your lessons will be tailored to your interests, experience and aspirations.
My goal is to help you build solid technique, musical confidence and a lifelong appreciation for music through enjoyable, personalised lessons.
MY TEACHING APPROACH
Every student learns differently, so I adapt each lesson to your level, pace and musical interests.
Rather than following exactly the same programme for everyone, I build a personalised learning path that keeps you motivated while ensuring steady technical and musical development.
Depending on your goals, lessons may include:
• Correct posture and healthy playing habits
• Breathing, tone production and embouchure
• Music reading and rhythm
• Finger technique, articulation and coordination
• Scales, technical exercises and ornamentation (including trills)
• Dynamics, vibrato and musical expression
• Performance preparation, stage presence and managing performance anxiety
• Improvisation fundamentals for students interested in developing their creativity
Whether your goal is to play for enjoyment, improve your technique, prepare for auditions or pursue professional studies, lessons will always be adapted to help you achieve it.
REPERTOIRE AND MUSICAL STYLES
A strong technical foundation is important, but I also believe students stay motivated when they play music they genuinely enjoy.
You are welcome to explore the styles and songs that inspire you, whether that's classical music, film music, pop, rock, jazz, folk or other genres.
As a Brazilian musician, I can also introduce you to Brazilian musical traditions such as Choro, Bossa Nova and Samba, offering a musical perspective that is less common in Europe.
Whether you prefer a traditional classical approach, popular music, or a combination of different styles, your lessons will always be adapted to your interests and goals.

• 60-minute lessons
• In person in Gothenburg or online
• Lessons available in English and Portuguese

My lessons are suitable for students aged approximately 8 years and above, including:
• Complete beginners with no previous musical experience
• Children, teenagers, adults and seniors
• Hobby musicians looking to learn new repertoire or improve their technique
• Students preparing for conservatory or university entrance exams
• Intermediate and advanced flautists seeking to refine their technique, interpretation and musical expression
