Om Kasun
Kasun is a seasoned strategic leader with over 12 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Risk Management, IT Governance, Data Protection, Privacy, and Business Continuity. With 7 years as a CISO, 3 years in KPMG Cybersecurity consulting, and 3 years of hands-on IT security engineering experience, he combines leadership, technical expertise, and strategic advisory. Kasun has a proven record of accomplishment of enhancing security posture across various sectors, including Banking, Finance, Telecom, BPO, and Healthcare, both locally and internationally, through effective security controls, training, and assessments.
For me cybersecurity is more than tools and tech — it's about mindset, creativity, and strategy.
Over the years, I’ve developed a working style that’s a little different — one that blends technical depth with strategic thinking and a human-first mindset. Here’s what sets me apart:
Think Like a Hacker, Defend Like an Architect,
I approach every project with an attacker’s mindset — anticipating threats, probing for weak spots, and designing defenses that are both resilient and scalable. I don’t just patch vulnerabilities; I ask why they exist and how to prevent them from happening again. # RiskBasedApproach
Data-Informed, Context-Driven
Rather than relying solely on tools and alerts, I dive into the why behind the noise. Whether it's a spike in traffic or an anomaly in user behaviour, I connect the dots, analyse the bigger picture, and always ask: “What’s the impact on the business?”
Clear Communication is a Security Tool
Tech without translation is a missed opportunity. I make it a point to break down complex security concepts for non-technical stakeholders — whether it's through concise reporting, visual dashboards, or live training sessions.
