Om Joana
My name is Joana Teixeira, and I am a Portuguese cellist currently living in Sweden. I moved here one year ago to continue my musical journey and to study the master in music performance in the Academy of Music in Malmö.
Before that, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Porto, and over the years, I have participated in various artistic and orchestral projects that have shaped me as a musician and performer.
I consider myself a passionate and dedicated musician, and I love sharing that enthusiasm with my students. My goal is to make learning music both enjoyable and rewarding, helping each student develop their skills, confidence, and personal musical expression.

I see private lessons as a space where students can learn at their own pace, with guidance that is both supportive and motivating. Every lesson is tailored to the individual, whether the goal is to discover the cello for the first time, prepare for an exam, or refine advanced technique.
My approach combines solid technical work with musical expression. I use traditional and modern methods, always adapting exercises and repertoire to each student’s level. Lessons are usually 60 minutes, but shorter sessions are available for younger beginners.
I have several years of experience teaching cello and music theory to students of all ages and backgrounds, both in person and online. My lessons are open to complete beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced players who wish to deepen their musical understanding. Above all, I aim to create a positive environment where learning the cello is rewarding and enjoyable.
