Om Luca
I am an energetic Professional Engineer (Italian License, 2013), who loves to read, write, code and solve problems. I also love to teach and help others learn and succeed.
I have a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (2019) from Université de Lorraine and a Ph.D. in Polymeric Composite Materials (2019) from Luleå University of Technology. I hold a M.Sc. in Space Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (110/110, 2013); a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University (4/4, 2012); a B.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering (110/110, 2010).
I gained experience in R&D, computational engineering, data science and software development working at Drexel University, IMDEA Materials Institute, ETH Zürich, Université de Lorraine and Luleå University of Technology.

I developed my teaching model and style through years of experience in teaching in different formats (one-to-one, group-based, in-class, online, tutoring, frontal teaching, lab supervision, programming workshop), at several levels (middle school, high school, undergraduate, graduate) and in multiple countries (Italy, Switzerland, France, Sweden), as well as through advanced training in pedagogy. I regard learning as a process of discovery and construction, in which the learner builds a corpus of knowledge and develops skill-sets. To be fruitful and time-efficient, this process needs to be guided and supervised, which is the task of the teacher. The teacher is a support to the learner, by sustaining the efforts of the latter, helping overcome obstacles and providing safe and controlled spaces (physical and mental) where the learner can fail and learn from the mistake.
