Om Carrie
I am a British-born and raised, biomedical and integrated health science masters graduate currently living in Sweden. I teach the English language and literature to learners of all levels.
I possess two bachelor degrees (Public Relations BA and Biomedical Science BSc) as well as a masters in Integrated Health Science. I have been teaching for several years online with Preply and privately, and students always feel very comfortable and enjoy our lessons! I have also lived and worked in the UK, USA and Canada.
Becoming fluent in another language takes a lot of time, dedication and also patience. Many students during their initial meetings often tell me that they haven't been feeling confident when it comes to expressing themselves to others, or that they feel people will laugh at them for trying.
I believe it is important to create a space where the student feels safe to make mistakes and comfortable practicing with me. It is through this process that their confidence in their abilities will increase and they will enjoy English even more! I love to ignite a passion for learning in students and believe with the right kind of teaching process, any student is capable of meeting and exceeding their learning expectations, therefore I aim to tailor my teaching methods to cater to individuals using study methods that work best on a case-by-case basis.

My methodology is to teach each student based on their own preferential learning styles. Humour, stimulating discussion and structured/sequential learning pathways are how I would best describe this! After our first lesson, we create a plan together which focuses on your goals to ensure we meet your learning requirements.
Lessons are typically 30, 45 or 60 minutes long, depending on your needs.
My communication/conversational practice lessons are open to learners of all age groups and I encourage everyone, no matter what age to feel confident and relaxed when speaking English. I have materials that cover all different topic types whether you are at a basic level or are an advanced business professional seeking to improve your fluency.
Lessons cover topics including everything from human behaviours, countries, art, concerns, the environment, international relations. Once I meet the student, what often unfolds is an engaging a fun dialogue that often branches into many different areas!
