Om Alena
Pianist, dancer, artist. I have classical Russian school piano training, and a BM in performance. I have an MA in Art, and am researching and practicing several movement methodologies.
I am interested in helping children foster a positive and reciprocal relationship with the piano as an extension of their own body.
I am a mother myself and am passionate about guiding children to explore themselves and the world around them in a playful, curious, and expansive way.
I live in Stockholm but have lived and worked in NYC previously.

I am an artist and pianist, with over 15 years of performance & 10 years teaching experience, classically trained. When I was 16, I was one of the 7 best pianists in the US.
I am now offering classes for children, aged 6-10. These are not ordinary piano lessons. If you’re looking to simply have your kids learn specific songs, please look for another teacher. The classes I am offering is what I wished I would have gotten myself when I was starting to engage with the piano as a child.
We will learn how to read music, posture, hand placement, and we will approach the piano as an extension of the human body, and pay attention to the sensations in our bodies when producing specific sounds, melodies, pieces. We will also use movement and dance, and activate listening throughout our entire bodies in a playful and engaging way.
The training I do is a guidance, a learning with the student, rather than “teaching to” the student. There is of course specific technical and musical concepts that will be taught, but the focus is on allowing the child to foster their own relationship with the instrument that works for them.
The classes are held entirely in English, and best done in person (in your home or mine, in Nacka).
