Om Mattias
My name is Mattias and I’m a 24 year old Swede (with chilean and Morrocan background) living in Stockholm. I’m currently studying Theoretical Philosophy, Logic and Linguistics at Stockholm University.
I love linguistics, which is the scientific field of language studies. My interest lies in everything related to how we understand, learn, speak, write and generate language.
I have experience of teaching Swedish to foreign students on different levels (the A-D scale in SFI), depending on the student’s background; from illiterate people with no prior school background to academics. I have a keen knowledge and understanding of swedish and english grammar, syntax, semantics and how teach those things to non swedish-speaking students.

I begin my classes with trying to evaluate the different needs that the students may have, depending on their backgrounds and proficiency in other (like English or Spanish) languages.
For instance: If the student isn’t that proficient in English I know that he/she/they will probably have a harder time learning Swedish than If it would have been the opposite, and would therefore require more or different exersizes.
But in general I go through:
- Grammar and parts of words (Categories like verbs, nouns, adjectives etc.)
-Vowels (long and short) and consonants (voiced and unvocied)
- Syntax (the structure of phrases and sentences)
- Semantics (the meaning of words, phrases and sentences)
- Writing, Speaking and of course practical ”good to know everyday”-phrases.
