My name is Nguyen Hong Mai, and I am an experienced English teacher with a focus on grammar instruction, communication skills, and test preparation for IELTS and TOEIC. I have taught at MS Nga Daily English, managing 20-student classes and designing targeted lessons for high school entrance exams. Additionally, as a private tutor, I provided customized instruction in various English aspects, helping students achieve their language goals.

My teaching methods are designed to cater to a diverse range of students, focusing on building their foundational knowledge, practical communication skills, and test-specific strategies. I incorporate the following approaches to ensure effective learning outcomes:
Student-Centered Learning: I place students at the center of the learning process, tailoring lessons to their individual needs and learning styles. By conducting a needs analysis at the beginning of the course, I identify each student's strengths, weaknesses, and goals, allowing me to design lessons that are both relevant and engaging.
Interactive and Engaging Lessons: I believe that active participation is key to mastering English. I use a variety of interactive activities, such as role-plays, group discussions, and problem-solving exercises, to encourage students to practice speaking and writing in real-life contexts. This approach not only helps in building confidence but also makes learning enjoyable.
Grammar in Context: Rather than teaching grammar as isolated rules, I integrate it into meaningful contexts. This involves analyzing texts, dialogues, and writing samples to identify grammatical structures in use. By understanding grammar in context, students can better grasp how it functions in communication and are more likely to retain what they learn.
Communicative Approach: For both communication skills and test preparation, I employ the communicative approach, which emphasizes using the language for practical, everyday purposes. This method helps students develop fluency and the ability to express themselves clearly in a variety of situations, whether in casual conversations, academic settings, or professional environments.
Test-Specific Strategies for IELTS/TOEIC: For students preparing for IELTS or TOEIC, I focus on familiarizing them with the test format, types of questions, and time management strategies. I conduct practice tests and provide detailed feedback to help students identify areas for improvement. I also teach specific strategies for each section of the tests, such as skimming and scanning for reading, listening for keywords, and organizing writing tasks effectively.
Regular Assessment and Feedback: I use formative assessments, such as quizzes, mock tests, and peer reviews, to monitor progress and adjust my teaching methods as needed. Regular feedback is provided to guide students in refining their skills and achieving their learning objectives. I also encourage self-assessment and reflection, empowering students to take an active role in their learning journey.
Technology-Enhanced Learning: I incorporate digital tools and resources to enhance the learning experience. This includes using online platforms for interactive exercises, video conferencing tools for virtual classes, and apps for vocabulary building and grammar practice. These tools allow for flexible, personalized learning and help students stay engaged both inside and outside the classroom.
