Om Matej
I have graduated from the Conservatory of J.L.Bella and The Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica, both in the department of drums and percussion performance. I mostly specialized on melody instruments such as marimba, vibraphone or xylophone and percussion chamber music as well. In 2015 I was accepted with a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston (USA). I have been teaching drums and percussion in Buck’s rock Performing and Creative art in Connecticut (USA) since 2015-2017. During this time I began to meet more and more musicians around the USA and started to tour with the bands across the country. In between I was flying back home where I was opening a new project of percussion chamber music. I got an engagement in the National Opera in Banska Bystrica (Slovakia). After some time I passed through an audition to teach drums and percussion at Conservatory of Žilina, where I am teaching until today, but today as a head of the department. I am also an external percussionist in Slovak sinfonietta, recording drummer and percussionist of a lot of popular music projects and also participant of many drums and percussion festivals around the world. I am being asked to be a member of juries at many Slovak, Czech or international percussion competitions as well as being a head of the juries. I also began to compose pieces for drums and percussion. So far I released 3 different methodical scores for snare drum solo and one marimba duet.

All of these instruments I am highly experienced performing and teaching too. I teach at the state Conservatory in Slovakia where I am a head of the drums and percussion department.
