Om Avery
Hey there, I'm Avery!
I come from Singapore, and started learning the piano when I was 7. I completed the ABRSM Grade 8 syllabus in both theory and practical by the time I was 16. I then spent a few years learning and training for my classical performance diploma from Trinity College London (ATCL; comparable in standard to the first year recital of an undergraduate degree), which I achieved in 2022.
I have always loved working with young children and teenagers, with around 2 years of work experience as a teaching assistant, tutor and mentor in academic subjects and symphonic band programmes (I also play the trombone).
I think it will be fun to combine my piano training with my love for working with young people!

Training will be systematic and fun! I believe in a student-led approach. Students will take the lead in determining what they wish to achieve. My role will be to help breakdown the goal into smaller achievable steps and guide the student, step-by-step.
For example, if you wish to play a dream piece or achieve a certain certification, every lesson will strategically target the skills you need to pick up, such as which specific scales or sections of the pieces. I will also provide you with a structure to ensure maximum result from your practice in your own time.
Each lesson will be about 45 to 60 minutes long, depending on the need. The first half will be spent revising materials from the previous lesson and reviewing the student's progress since then. The next half will be to discuss and set up for the next steps.
I believe that students will have fun at the piano when they start seeing for themselves that they can do hard things!
