Om Yunfei
My name is Yunfei, and I am a Chinese master's student at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where I study Integrated Product Design. I was born and raised in China and Mandarin is my native language, but everything I do here, my coursework, my thesis, my internships happens in English, so I understand exactly what it feels like to learn and work in a language that is not your own.
That experience shapes how I teach. Before coming to Sweden I worked at Unilever's Global R&D Center in Shanghai and later as a design intern at a Stockholm tech company, roles where my whole job was to listen carefully, understand what someone actually needed, and adapt. I bring the same habit to teaching: I pay attention to where a student struggles and adjust rather than pushing a fixed curriculum.
My master's research is built on interviewing people and structuring what I learn from them, which has made me a patient listener and a clear explainer. My English is at a professional working level (IELTS 7.0), so I can explain grammar, tones and characters in a way that actually makes sense to an English-speaking learner. I am also learning Swedish myself, which keeps me honest about how difficult and how rewarding language learning really is.
I am reliable, well-prepared, and I take my students' time seriously.

I believe a good language lesson is a conversation, not a lecture. As a native Mandarin speaker currently studying in Stockholm, I build each course around what my student actually needs — whether that is ordering food on a trip to China, or speaking confidently in a business meeting.
My method combines three things: pronunciation and tones from day one (this is where most learners get stuck later, so we fix it early), practical sentence patterns you can use the same week, and characters introduced gradually through radicals and stories rather than rote memorisation. I prepare personalised materials after our first session, once I understand your goals and learning style, and I always leave time for real conversation practice, even absolute beginners speak from the first lesson.
Lessons last 60 minutes, though 90 minutes works well for students preparing for an exam. The first lesson is a relaxed assessment where we discuss your goals and agree on a plan together.
I have experience helping classmates and friends in Sweden start learning Chinese, and I teach entirely in English, so no previous Chinese knowledge is needed. Patience and encouragement matter to me.
